A responsible product. A sustainable environment

We only have one world. At Takeform, we do all we can to help take care of it. We advocate awareness and encourage new ideas to reduce, reuse or recycle resources. We create products made from responsible materials. In fact, our major material - paper - comes from the wood chips leftover from lumber manufacturing and trimmings left over from papermaking. We design our products to last. Quality materials and timeless designs mean our signs stay in use - and out of landfills - longer.

Fusion and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)

Fusion is a natural wood product that complies with the requirements of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). Takeform is the only signage manufacturer to receive the SFI certification.

The certification encompasses both product and process. With respect to product, the certification attests that at least 85% of the sign content by weight is from a company certified under the SFI procurement standard. Additionally, there is a ”lot control” or tracking process that follows the raw product from the forest through manufacture to a finished sign.

Green209

The key to “our green” is Takeform’s substrate or core, Green209. Green209 is a natural fiber reinforced thermoset composite (97% lignocellulosic wood fiber) and organic thermoset resin (less than 3% by weight). The resin is added for dimensional stability. The fibers and resin are compressed under high pressure and temperature to yield a dimensionally stable material with a desirable combination of strength and flexibility.

Why is this important? Because the high pressure laminates and veneers that we utilize as face materials are – like Green209 – thermoset composites and therefore affected by temperature and humidity in a similar way. The result is a sign that does not curl, warp or delaminate. So Takeform signs last longer, almost forever.

In contrast, other sign manufacturers substitute acrylic or expanded PVC for Green209. These materials are thermo plastics and behave differently with changes in temperature and moisture. Because these dissimilar materials do not expand and contract uniformly, the acrylic and laminate will quickly curl, warp and separate.

Even the Adhesive is Green

We use a water based adhesive. The adhesive is nonhazardous and allows for flexing and deflection of the adhered components due to changes in temperature and humidity without bond failure.

More Green

Hydro Power – Takeform utilizes hydro-electric power exclusively… a completely renewable resource producing no waste and no greenhouse gases.

Company-wide recycling – Takeform recycles all paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and printer waste. Total recycled volume is up tenfold from 2003.

Recyclable Packaging – our packaging, including corrugated boxes and shredded paper materials, are comprised of 30% - 100% post consumer waste.

Local – all Takeform products are manufactured in the U.S.A. Seventy-five percent of our components and materials are sourced within a 250 mile radius.
