PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
Dignity Health – Chandler Regional Medical Center
Hello, hard-earned trust
Why one hospital system leans on Takeform—through mergers and major projects
The brand tagline for CommonSpirit Health® is as simple and direct as its aesthetic: “Hello humankindness." It's at the heart and soul of their brand purpose: to unleash the healing power of humanity. To comfort. To care. To promote healing and recovery. And it's an honor, says Keri Fate, Director of Healthcare at Takeform, for an organization with such a powerful guiding belief to trust Takeform to help shape the experience of patients and their loved ones.
"People count on them—and they count on us."
- Keri Fate, Director of Healthcare at Takeform

Throughout the landscaped gardens, visitors will encounter Living Garden signs with inspired messaging.

The brand's friendly tone is ever-present, even on non-smoking signs with messages like “There's healing in the air. Please don't smoke."
As Dignity Health – Chandler Regional Medical Center of Chandler, Arizona—part of CommonSpirit—prepared to embark on an expansion of its hospital campus, Takeform was there. Being the preferred signage and graphics partner, Takeform helped plan, design, and implement wayfinding and experiential graphics that would reflect the system's engaging brand in the most effective way possible.
A new tower joins the hospital skyline.
When it was time to break ground on a fourth patient tower, adding 214,000 square feet and 96 patient beds to their campus, CommonSpirit called on Takeform to support the project from the ground up. Takeform was already familiar with the varied branding guidelines across the entire system—particularly those of Dignity Health. There was confidence in Takeform's proven performance, its ability to adhere to preferred processes, and skill at managing details such as code compliance.

The refined dimensional logo treatment featured at the new tower's reception desk is consistent element across Dignity Health facilities.

Brand fluency—and a turnkey partner
Takeform knew the Dignity Health legacy brand so well from years of partnership. They had built a close, trusted relationship with the client. Internalized it. Taken it to heart. And that's very reassuring to brand-driven organizations. Through that proven track record, CommonSpirit knows they can hand off big, complex jobs to Takeform, even trusting the team to guide other subcontractors.
"Oftentimes, CommonSpirit leadership will send questions or concerns from other vendors over to our team, so we can help make sure everything is in alignment with their system standards. They know we'll be good stewards of their brand while we manage complex assignments."
- Keri Fate, Director of Healthcare at Takeform

Overhead signage is kept simple, clear, and minimal throughout, complementing the architecture.

“Hello humankindness," greets visitors—a reinforcement of their unique care-focused brand promise.
Complicated projects, a simple goal
One of the guiding principles of the CommonSpirit brand is minimalism. It's built into their graphic standards and reflected in their décor.

"They like to keep things uncluttered: clean, minimal, and effective."
- Keri Fate, Director of Healthcare at Takeform

The new building's chapel features Ethos dimensional lettering. A scriptural passage installed over intricate tile work offers a sense of peace and enhances the quiet calm of the space.

A colorful Fusion directory helps visitors find their way.

A deep rooted relationship
That minimalist aesthetic has its roots in the 2017 Built Environment Improvement Project Takeform worked on with Dignity Health. Conducted in tandem with a brand refresh, the project involved collaboration with interior designers and architects to develop patient-centric color schemes, floor plans, furnishings, artwork, and, of course, experiential graphics and signage. Ultimately, Takeform worked its way through 36 Dignity Health hospitals across three states, implementing new branding standards and signage across their entire system.

A close working relationship amid extraordinary growth
Takeform has been a trusted Dignity Health partner for many years—including our work on the sweeping Built Environment Improvement Project across 36 hospitals.
In 2019, Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives combined to form CommonSpirit Health, creating a new, $29 billion Chicago-based nonprofit Catholic health system serving people across 21 states. Today, the combined entity operates more than 1,500 care sites and 140 hospitals, as well as research facilities and community health programs. The organization has maintained the Dignity Health brand under the CommonSpirit umbrella, in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
Since then, Takeform has continued to grow its relationship with the health system, gaining expertise across the brands that have remained in place and the new parent organization's unique identity, too.
