First impressions. The exterior of the new renovated Science Lecture Auditorium at LSUS marks the location with raised lettering from Takeform's Ethos line. Each weather-resistant letter is ¾ inch cast aluminum, brushed, and clear coated.

Reimagined lecture hall's finishing touches add polish, branding, and a vibrant nod to biology.

In Summer 2020, Louisiana State University Shreveport embarked on a massive renovation of one the largest academic spaces on its campus: Science Lecture Auditorium (SLA). The SLA's interior was gutted down to its studs in order to upgrade and modernize the facility, including new flooring, walls, lighting, ADA compliant furniture, sound system, and state-of-the-art technology. And Takeform was there to support the school with a range of interior and exterior signage and graphics that would reflect the fresh, vibrant feel of the renewed hall.

ADA compliant. Room IDs in the new space came from Takeform's Fusion line and are made of a satin silver metallic laminate.

Working with general contractor ELA Group, Inc., and designer Laken Drake of Prevot Design Services, our team fabricated and installed signage and graphics that reinforced the attitude of the new space as an ideal backdrop for science instruction and public events such as community engagement lectures.

Bringing together the scientific and natural worlds.

Among the eye-catching elements Takeform built were a series of large graphic panels, which the client initially imagined as abstract representations of molecular structure and the periodic table. After further considering, they opted for a more organic vibe, and we incorporated natural scenes into a series of panels with an overlay of molecular shapes. Takeform's versatile Moxie line's high-impact graphics provided a perfect reflection of the hall's purpose.

A space fit for cutting-edge study.

The new auditorium provides not only classroom space for teaching science, but a gathering place for other disciplines. It will also be used to host guest speakers and continuing education classes—always reminding attendees that they're at LSUS through highly visible branding, while also making a sophisticated impression with its style.

Big on branding. The back wall of the auditorium highlights the LSUS logo, fashioned from our Ethos line. It features acrylic painted lettering over a satin silver high-pressure laminate backer and anodized 1-inch button caps. The school strategically positioned the logo in large lettering to also serve as a brand marker in event photography.

Just the latest chapter in an ongoing curriculum.

Completed in August 2020, the SLA wasn't our first project with LSUS; this assignment was a natural extension. We've worked with the school several times now, including on projects as varied as their Student Success Center and their Health Science Core Lab. And, like LSUS students, we learn something more and build a deeper relationship with the school with each successful project.
