Medical research company bioMérieux was a Takeform client since before that was their name. Formerly BioFire, the company was recently acquired by bioMérieux, so the time came to rebrand its locations across the Salt Lake City metro area. Those locations included three existing facilities—manufacturing, warehouse, research—plus a new administration building under construction. And one Takeform product family proved especially advantageous to bioMérieux, because it was specifically designed for easy updates.

Project Management
With multiple locations to consider across the metro area, Takeform's intricate project management included managing a comprehensive database of signs that needed to be augmented or replaced, from their specifications and messaging to location, status, and priority. Our project manager also oversaw the phased installation across the four different locations.

Site Surveys
Creating brand and aesthetic continuity across four locations—existing and new—required careful planning and accurate data. In existing locations, we'd be refacing existing monument signage.

To that end, site surveyors collected exact measurements, technical specs, and reference photography of every sign. At the new admin building, each signage location had to be positioned and approved. Collaborating with the client's facility manager was crucial throughout the process.

Design
With the acquisition came a complete rebrand for the organization's campuses. Our design team collaborated with bioMérieux to adapt new brand standards to the exterior sign system. Special attention was given to unique graphic touches such as a stylized portrait honoring Mercel Merieux on the Administration building's exterior monument sign – The result? A poignant combination of modernity and heritage. Inside the new admin building, our design team developed space-complementing signage throughout.
Fabrication
The demands of retrofitting existing exterior signage structures require precision manufacturing in order to ensure a refined, cohesive look. The new exterior signage installations complemented the existing signage while providing added benefits such as simple updates.

Installation
Throughout the project, the complexity of both updating existing signage and creating new signage for an additional location required intense coordination. For the newly built site, Takeform installed both interior and exterior signage on a tight deadline based on inspection and occupancy dates.
And for existing sites, winter conditions played a part in planning and processes, because some of the exterior elements had to be installed while outside temperatures were below optimal levels.

Refaced Exterior Monuments
These cornerstone elements welcome visitors, elevate the brand, and provide direction. For existing monuments, internally illuminated signs required extrusion modifications. In each case, our team dismantled the sign to determine how to build compatible faces.

New
Exterior
Signage |
Signify
Our trusted platform served its purpose perfectly. For bioMérieux's pre-existing Signify installations, the line is engineered for easy refacing, which simplified updates—unlike the sites' other bespoke monuments that necessitated reverse engineering to retrofit each unit. At the admin building, new Signify installations provided an on-brand sign system that will serve the client for the long term, allowing for easy updates as the organization grows and evolves.
Exterior Dimensional Logos | Ethos
Through our Ethos line, we provided on-brand, full-color dimensional logos for the warehouse building. Our Ethos line also provided a modern, polished way to identify buildings with refined look of stainless steel.

Interior
Dimensional Logos
and Letters |
Ethos
These elements brought the clean, modern look of stainless steel to the admin building's interior, including this stylish café sign and destination identification signage.

Interior Signage | Fusion
Takeform's Fusion platform delivered an ideal blend of finish-driven aesthetics and user-focused functionality. The sign system contributed eye-catching pops of color through encapsulated acrylic that backed the minimalist look of the gray sign faces and brushed stainless accent bars. Fusion provided a full ADA-compliant sign system along with features such as updatable inserts.
